Rajkumar Hirani’s blockbuster film 3 Idiots, released in 2009 and starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, remains an iconic movie even today. Last December, there were reports that Hirani had finalised the script for a sequel to 3 Idiots, with plans to begin shooting in 2026. The report also stated that the sequel would feature the original cast, including Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi. However, Aamir Khan and Madhavan later denied being approached for the project. Now, Mona Singh has also addressed the rumours.
Mona Singh Breaks Silence On 3 Idiots Sequel
In an interview with Screen, Mona Singh was asked whether the rumours about a 3 Idiots sequel were true. She responded, “I also heard that, but I thought it must be a rumour because I haven’t received any call yet. The call should come. My son should be a footballer by now (laughs).”
Mona On If She Received Any Projects After 3 Idiots
Mona was asked if she expected to receive more film offers after 3 Idiots, to which she replied, “Honestly, no. I was happy doing TV at that time. I was trying out new things, participating in and hosting reality shows. I was just celebrating the fact that I was working with the biggest director and the biggest ensemble cast in the country.”
She continued, “I was such a fan of Aamir sir, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, and Boman Irani. Getting to do my first film with them? I was just celebrating that. I didn’t think ahead.”
Mona Singh played the role of Mona Sahastrabuddhe in 3 Idiots. She was the elder daughter of Virus (Boman Irani) and sister to Pia (Kareena Kapoor’s character).
