NCB arrest Suraj Godambe

On Thursday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Bollywood makeup artist and hairstylist Suraj Godambe with cocaine. The celebrity hairstylist was arrested along with an alleged peddler. Suraj has films like  ‘3 Idiots’ (2009), ‘Fearless’ (2010) and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ (2015) to his credit.

According to a PTI report, NCB officials confirmed arresting Suraj and an auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Lalchandra Yadav near Meera Tower, Oshiwara, Andheri West with 16 packets of cocaine. Reportedly, the packets contain 11 gm of cocaine.

Speaking about the hairstylist’s arrest, NCB official said, “Godambe is the receiver of drugs in this case, while Yadav is the supplier.” The official also said that Yadav used to supply cocaine on behalf of a ‘Nigerian syndicate’.

Suraj and Yadav have been booked under relevant sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The report further stated that after questioning Suraj and Yadav, they were arrested and both of them have now been sent to judicial custody by the court till December 16, 2020.

In the past few days, NCB had also arrested drug suppliers, Rigel Mahakal and others in connection with a drugs case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

NCB’s drug probe in Bollywood intensified after the death of Sushant. In the last few months, several Bollywood A-listers have been interrogated by the anti-drug agency. Recently comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa were even arrested.

Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik got bail in the drugs case after spending almost three months in jail.
