Padmavati controversy

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films of the year. The trailer and the songs have made everyone eager to watch the film. While the whole world was waiting for December 1, so that they can go and watch the much talked about film in theatres, the makers have now decided to postpone the film. Though the new release date has not been announced.

But, even after postponing the film as many fringe groups and state governments demanded that, the controversy surrounding the movie is not fading away.

Suraj Pal Amu, Haryana’s BJP Chief Media Coordinator, stated, “Want to congratulate Meerut youth for announcing Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika, Bhansali. We will reward the ones beheading them, with Rs 10 crore, and also take care of their family’s needs.”

This statement of Suraj Pal didn’t go down well with many B-Town celebs and they took to Twitter show their displeasure with it and questioned the government about it. (Also Read: Padmavati: Shabana Azmi demands an IFFI boycott in support of Deepika Padukone)

Aditi Rao Hydari, who is a part of ‘Padmavati’ and plays Khilji’s wife tweeted, “Basically this is a ‘supari’ Its a free for all, is there no difference between a gangster & a political leader? The government is quiet… why? This is a deep embarrassment for india ? Ps- And now I’ll be trolled and abused and told my name is ‘hydari’ Pps- ? ??♀️?”

Arjun Kapoor wrote on Twitter, “We as a country are turning into exactly all those we have pointed fingers at…”

Varun Dhawan also expresses his anger about the whole scenario. He tweeted, “Shocked!!! This is not protesting this is threatening. If this was a sportsman or an important businessman being threatened…I wonder what would have happened?”

Parineeti Chopra tweeted, “This is the most appalling thing to hear!! How the hell are these people even called humans?”

Well, we too quite agree with these celebs. This is not a protest but a threat. The only thing we are hoping that the whole of Bollywood fraternity stands united and voices their opinion on ‘Padmavati’
