Parineeti Chopra Reflects On Balancing Career Choice Post Embracing Motherhood
When asked about choosing a script like Shaque post motherhood, did that impact her, Parineeti Chopra said, “Yeah, 1000%. I don’t think I’ve had a single conversation with a single maker, director or writer who has even mentioned motherhood to me. And I don’t remember anybody saying, ‘Now that you’re a mom, this is what we are offering you.’ I think that lack of association is the win. I would hate to stop working just because I became a mom. If I want to continue working, and it’s a two-way relationship, I have to be offered work. And I would be so sad to lose work because I have done such a beautiful thing in producing a baby.”
She continued, “So I think that speaks volumes about… Evolution is the right word. It speaks volumes about the evolution of the audience. The audience is not cancelling mothers. And hence writers, directors and actors are able to make this content for you. So I think it all goes down to the audience. This business is not solitary. It is supply and demand with the audience. So it’s all you guys who make it possible for us to be able to give you this work.”
Concluding, the actress said, “So I can’t take any credit for it. I don’t think anybody… We are glad that it’s not stopping us because we would have never liked to stop. And I’m glad that these conversations are happening. I’m glad the industry is changing. I’m glad the audience has made it possible. It’s all lovely and positive. I love that we’re in this position today.”
Parineeti Chopra’s upcoming projects include her series debut in the Netflix mystery thriller Shaque: Trust No One. It premieres on September 24, 2026.
