Bigg Boss 20: Qazi Touqeer Opens Up About Media Misinterpretation After Rejecting Ekta Kapoor’s Show

Qazi Touqeer has revisited an incident from his early career that, according to him, led to an unfair perception of his personality. During a conversation with Amrapali Dubey, the singer and Bigg Boss 20 contestant recalled how he was portrayed as arrogant after reportedly turning down a project offered by Ekta Kapoor in 2005.

Qazi explained that he was only 20 years old at the time and had already signed a film. His decision was connected to that existing commitment, but the headlines that followed suggested that he had rejected Ekta Kapoor’s offer because he believed he had better opportunities. The film he had signed eventually did not release.

Reflecting on the opportunities he received during his career, Qazi said, “Main bada khushkismat insaan hoon. Ek toh maine show jeeta, prize mein hi was one crore, that time, 2005 mein. Uske baad maine 2015 mein Afghan Jalebi kiya, creatively, aur kuch nahi. Woh bhi blockbuster. Aur uske baad teesri cheez ye. Toh meri life ka record jo hai, woh 100% hai.”

Speaking about his meeting with Ekta Kapoor, he recalled how she personally narrated the story of Rockstar. Qazi admitted that he was mesmerised by her presence and, being young, did not fully grasp the significance of the moment.

He explained that he had conveyed his decision because he had already signed a film. However, the media coverage the following morning left him surprised. Recalling the headlines, he said, “Main subah breakfast mein dekh raha hoon, ‘Qazi ditched Ekta Kapoor. Qazi has a bigger fish to fry.”

Qazi strongly disagreed with the way the incident was presented and clarified, “Maine ditch thodi kiya. Ye paper aisa hai, media aisa hai. Us time pe clarification karne ke liye thodi tha hamare paas social media ki maine nahi kiya. Ho gaya badnaam. Ban gaya arrogant. ‘Qazi ditched Ekta.”

His conversation with Amrapali Dubey sheds light on how media scrutiny and the absence of immediate clarification can influence an individual’s public image. Qazi’s account offers his perspective on an incident that, he believes, turned a professional decision into an allegation of arrogance.
