R Madhavan, Doctor of Letters

On Wednesday, actor R Madhavan was conferred Doctor of Letters (D. Litt.) for his contribution to arts and cinema by DY Patil Education Society, Kolhapur, at their ninth convocation ceremony. He shared the news on his Instagram handle with a couple of pictures from the ceremony.

“So very humbled and grateful on being conferred the degree of Doctor of Letters (D. Litt.) by DY Patil Education Society, Kolhapur . This is an honor and a responsibility now,” he captioned the pics while sharing the good news.

As per a report in IANS, the Maara actor said that he is truly humbled by this honour. “This will only motivate me to keep pushing the envelope and challenging myself with newer projects,” he said.

Congratulatory messages poured in for the actor on his Twitter and Instagram handles. Shilpa Shetty dropped a comment on his Instagram post as she wrote, “Wah”. Amit Sadh wrote, “Always proud of you big bro ❤️ and you deserve all this happiness , honour and love … as you have created this life .. On the work front, Madhavan will be seen in his directorial debut Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The movie is based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who was accused of espionage. Apart from direction and acting, he has also written and produced the movie.
