Over the years, Dinesh Vijan has delivered some amazing films when it comes to the field of education. Be it Hindi Medium, its sequel Angrezi Medium or this year’s release Dasvi. The filmmaker has always highlighted the importance of education in an entertaining way that has connected to the masses. But this time, he seems to have taken a different route as his next, Happy Teachers’ Day is a social-thriller, which would be a departure from the comedy genre. The makers released the announcement video for the film today and it has surely piqued intertest of the audience.

Both Radhika Madan and Nimrat Kaur have been a part of Dinesh’s education-based films as the former was in Angrezi Medium while the latter won hearts in Dasvi. With them coming together, fireworks are to be expected and the announcement video hints at a poignant story. The video states, “Teachers educate… Teachers enlighten… Teachers empower… Teachers make our lives… But can’t they have a life?”, followed by some cringe comments put up for teachers on social media like, “Ye teacher hai ya nachaniya”, “OBSCENE. SHAMEFUL. UNACCEPTABLE” and “This teacher should be sacked immediately.”

Recently, a case on similar lines happened in West Bengal when a female teacher was reportedly forced to resign after parents of a student complained about her pictures in a bikini on her personal social media handle. With the acting prowess of actresses like Radhika and Nimrat, Happy Teachers’ Day already promises to be a hard-hitting film. The film backed by Maddock Films is directed by Made In China fame Mikhil Musale and it releases next year on Teachers’ Day itself as its shoot begins today.
