Faisal Malik is making headlines after reports surfaced suggesting he has been cast in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated film Ramayana. If these reports are accurate, the actor will portray Kumbhkaran. Malik, who recently appeared in Anil Kapoor’s OTT film Subedaar, has reportedly joined the cast of Ramayana: Part 1, set to release during Diwali this year. Allegedly, Malik will play the role of Kumbhkaran, following the end of Bobby Deol’s involvement.
Faisal Malik To Play Kumbhakaran In Ramayana
As reported by HT, Faisal Malik has been cast as the mighty warrior Kumbhkaran, amid rumours that Bobby Deol was initially considered for the role. Malik has already completed the first schedule of filming and will be sharing scenes with Yash, who plays Ravana. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey.
A source said, “He joined Yash for the introductory Kumbhakaran scene at Prime Focus studio in Mumbai, shot with an international action crew. The sequences are heavy on graphics — similar to Avatar.”
The source added that the major fight sequences, part of the second instalment, are yet to be filmed. “His height and heavily built frame perfectly suit the character,” they noted. The Ramayana team has not officially confirmed the cast, and Faisal Malik declined to comment.
About Ramayana
Set in a timeless era governed by the trinity—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—the film narrates the story of Lord Ram and Ravana. When Ravana attempts to upset the cosmic balance, Vishnu descends to Earth as Lord Ram to restore harmony. Additionally, reports suggest Rakul Preet Singh has been cast as Surpanakha, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Vivek as Vidyutjihva, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra, Adinath Kothare as Bharat, and Mohit Raina returning as Lord Shiva.
Meanwhile, Raghav Juyal has been linked to the role of Ravan’s son Meghnath. There is no official confirmation. The first look of the film was reportedly scheduled for Ram Navami (March 27) at the Gateway of India. However, the unveiling has been postponed due to the ongoing Middle East crisis. Until then, the full cast remains under wraps. Ramayana is said to be one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema.
