Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has fulfilled the last wish of Sarbjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur. He performed her last rites as wished by her. Randeep Hooda played the role of Sarabjit Singh in the 2016 film Sarbjit. The movie featured Aishwarya Rai as Dalbir Kaur. The biographical drama revolved around Dalbir Kaur’s fight to get justice for her brother Sarabjit Singh. He was sentenced to death by a Pakistani court for alleged terrorism and spying.

In course of the shoot, Randeep and Dalbir had forged a bond. She told Randeep that she sees Sarabjit Singh in him, and requested him to perform her last rites when she passes away.

Randeep Hooda received the news of Dalbir Kaur’s demise due to a heart attack. He immediately left for her native village Bhikhiwind near Amritsar, Punjab. The actor not only paid his last respects but as promised also lit the pyre during the last rites.

Sarbjit also featured Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumaar. It was released three years after Sarbjit died in Lahore after being attacked by his fellow inmates at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

For the unversed, Sarabjit Singh was a farmer from Bhikhiwind town in Punjab, living near the India-Pakistan border. He had mistakenly crossed over the border. However, was accused of spying by Pakistan and sentenced to death.
