In 2016, Randeep Hooda played the role of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian national who was convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court and died there while awaiting his death sentence, in his biopic Sarbjit. Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur, who dedicated her whole life to get her brother free and back to India, came close to the actor while he was researching and working on the film. Recently, Dalbir Kaur passed away of a heart attack in Bhikhiwind near Amritsar on June 26.

As soon as she passed away, Randeep Hooda reached her village to give his shoulder to her bier and even performed her last rites as he had earlier promised her. Dalbir Kaur had formed a bond with Randeep during the shoot of Sarbjit and even told him that she saw her brother in him. It was then that she had asked Randeep to give his shoulder to her bier whenever she passes away as it would give her peace thinking that it was her brother who did that.

Today, Randeep took to his social media to share an invitation for her prayer meet, an ‘antim ardas’ that he is holding on July 4. The prayer will be held at Baba Deep Singh Ji Shaheed Gurudwara in Kaur’s village Bhikhiwind, and in the invitation Randeep is referred to as Kaur’s brother.
