Rani Mukerji BMC

Rani Mukerji was embroiled in a tussle with BMC due to a construction at her bungalow which was eventually stopped for a while. However, according to a report in Mid-Day, the problem between her and BMC has finally ended.

The actress has paid a whopping amount of Rs 23.30 lakh as fine and Building Proposal department has regularised the additional work in the bungalow.

In August, some activists had filed a complaint to the BMC’s K West ward against irregularities being carried at the actress’ bungalow. Later, civic officials had sent a notice under section 488 of the MMC Act to Rani for review. After an inspection, they had issued a stop work notice to Rani as the construction that was taking place was not according to the approved plans.

An officer from the building proposal department stated, “We have received a payment of Rs 23 lakh and there is no more amount to be recovered, thus we have regularised the construction work that has been carried out there.”

However, Nikitesh Chaubal, an activist says that the amount paid is less and penalty is more than what has been paid. He said, “We will now write to the municipal commissioner asking for a vigilance inquiry to be called against the Building Proposal department’s officers, as the amount to be recovered would be definitely more, but [has not been so as they are hand in gloves with the actor.”

Ganesh Kusumulu, another activist stated, “The penalty amount will be much more than what has already been paid, but BMC officials do not want to do anything to recover their amount and just want to support the actor.”

Meanwhile, Rani’s spokesperson has decided not to comment on the same.

When it comes to films, the actress will be back on the big screen after a gap of three years with YRF’s ‘Hichki’ which is slated to hit the screens in February 2018. (Also Read: Looks like Rani Mukerji took Children’s Day way too seriously
