On Friday, Ranveer posted a picture with Indian rapper Naved Shaikh, popularly known as Naezy on Instagram. In ‘Gully Boy’ Ranveer will be seen playing the character of a street rapper who dreams to make it big. Interestingly this is not the first time where Ranveer has showcased his rapping skills, the actor had earlier rapped a bit in the title track of his 2011 movie titled ‘Ladies vs Rickey Bahl’. But, in Zoya’s ‘Gully Boy’ he did with all perfection and the men behind his rap are popular rappers, Divine and Naezy.

“This is my film and I think only I could have done it. It is the coming together of so many things like rap, hip-hop music, which I have loved since I was a kid. Zoya Akhtar is my friend and confidante. Ritesh Sidhwani is like my father. I admire Farhan Akhtar and want him to direct me some day. We are lucky Alia Bhatt is part of our film,” Ranveer told reporters at the trailer launch of the film.

There were reports doing rounds on social media that ‘Gully Boy’ is a biopic. Clarifying the doubts, at trailer launch, Zoya made it clear by saying, “It’s inspired by them and their music and they worked with me on the film to make it authentic. They worked with me on the script. They were the people I talked to, they were the people who took me into their lives, showed me how it’s done. There are a lot of things from their lives in the film but it’s not an exact biopic because it’s a fiction drama.”

The film ‘Gully Boy’ is jointly produced by Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment. It is slated to release on February 14.
