Jimmy Sheirgill in 'Shorgul'

Jimmy Sheirgill‘s upcoming political thriller ‘Shorgul’ is facing resistance from various parties, just before its release. The release date has been altered quite a few times already and now it is postponed to July 1, 2016 from June 24. The film revolves around the riots of Muzaffarnagar and the district administration has decided not to allow the film to be screened. Following this, a part of the theatre owners have landed themselves in doubt and are reluctant to screen the film.

“We have been forced to postpone the release of our film to the 1st of July. There is a sense of apprehension in the exhibition sector pertaining to the showcasing of the film and a lot of cinema managers have expressed their reservation. Despite our repeated reassurances there are certain theatre chains who have maintained their stand of not showcasing the film. As first time producers we find ourselves in a handicapped position with minimal support being garnered from the relevant stakeholders. Our film is a creative piece of expression inspired by humanity. It has a strong message for the common man and we hope to receive unrelenting support from the masses to ensure  a smooth release on the proposed new date,” said Swatantra Vijay Singh, producer of ‘Shorgul’.

‘Shorgul’ has been directed by Jitendra Tiwari and Pranav K Singh, and also stars Ashutosh Rana in a pivotal role.
