Actress Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik finally got bail three months after his arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB) in drugs case. Showik was arrested by the NCB in connection to the drugs case which is linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. Rhea was also arrested by the agency in this drugs case, however, she was able to secure the bail almost a month after her arrest.

Showik was arrested on September 4 on the allegations that he helped procure drugs for Sushant who died by suicide on June 14. Showik was also accused of being in touch of drug dealers. He was arrested along with Sushant’s former house manager Samuel Miranda and cook Dipesh Sawant. They all were arrested under various sections of the anti-narcotics law.

After Showik was granted bail, news agency ANI tweeted, “Special NDPS Court grants bail to Showik (Rhea Chakraborty’s brother) in a drugs case registered by the Narcotics Control Bureau.”

According to a report in NDTV, Showik had applied for bail previously however his plea was rejected. Later he filed another bail application in special NDPS court and cited a recent Supreme Court judgment which states that statements made before NCB officers cannot be considered as a confession. Showik’s bail plea also stated that no drug was recovered from his possession.

NCB had accused Showik and Rhea of procuring drugs for Sushant and that they were active members of the drugs syndicate. The anti-drug agency’s probe intensified after drugs chats of Rhea had surfaced while ED started its investigation in Sushant’s death case.
