Rida Tharana Takes A Dig At Mallika Sherawat’s Selective Feminism
When asked about Mallika Sherawat saying only Rida Tharana needs the spotlight, the latter responded, “I think, is show ko dekhne ke baad one thing I have realised about Mallika ma’am is — Mallika ma’am is the only feminist when it is on her, you know, when issues lie on her. It’s like, ‘Oh, we women don’t have this, we women don’t have that.’ In the show, she absolutely hated everybody. She spoke shit about Rhea. I’m not saying that… Yeah, everybody.’“
She continued, “And that’s when I was like, “Bhai, how are you someone who is a beacon of feminism and being like, ‘Main akeli jeeti hoon, humein mard ki zarurat nahi hai,’ and that, while you only want to hang out with the boys, you only call them ‘cutie’, and that? In this, while we are… ‘Yeh toh aisi hai, iska toh waisa hai…’ And it broke my heart, because the first time I met Mallika ma’am, I told her very clearly that, ‘Ma’am, aapke videos, especially on feminism — because I make content on feminism — have inspired me, and how it just makes me so happy ki aap apni life apne hisaab se jee rahi ho.'”
Mallika Wanted To Hang Out With The Boys
The social media influencer added, “And then, from Episode 1 onwards, she went on to only talk shit about the girls. She always wanted to hang out with the boys. She always wanted to… Even in the recent thing also, she was like, ‘I don’t want to sit with the girls. I want to sit with the boys.’ And I’m just like, ‘Good, what is wrong with you?’ So I expected that entirely. But I was also like, ‘Fine, if I’m there for the limelight, then do…’ Mujhe aapne toh na ek traitor pakda hai.“
She added, “Aapko toh pata tha ki main hoon traitor. Woh bhi aap convince nahi kar paayi, toh phir aapka kya hi fayda? You are an actor, for the love of God, as well. I’m not. Haan, matlab agar mujhe poore show mein chandaal-chalaak mahila aur yeh sab bula ke bhi aap mujhe nikaal nahi paaye, toh kya fayda? What is the point? Yeah, I was very disappointed.”
Tharana: “Don’t Meet Your Heroes In Real Life”
Rida continued, “You know, when they say that, ‘Don’t meet your heroes in real life,’ is that the quote? I think somehow it broke my heart, because not only me; there were multiple instances where she constantly kept shaming women in the show. But her idea of feminism is just like so… I realise that, you know, as a viewer, yes, you will find it funny. You will find it entertaining. But if you have to live in that situation, where someone who is, you know, a woman, a self-made woman, whom you look up to, and then they say these things, you just feel bad living in that situation.”
She added, “But from outside, yes, everyone had fun watching her videos. Everyone was like, ‘God, she is the only one who is giving one-liners and everything.’ But I kept seeing the distinction in the show as well. She only wanted to be around the boys, and when the boys were correct is when they were like, “Oh, that is…” That is when she would give them the benefit of doubt, like, ‘Okay, Kullu, Kalan…’ Otherwise, Kullu was always… But women were all traitors in her head.”
Rida On Limelight
Tharan added, “The limelight thing, I don’t care. I mean, please go ahead. You’re not wrong. I’m there for a show, hoping that it works out. In my favourite show, what are you all there for if not for, like, exactly… I signed, yeah, I signed the papers to play the game. Ma’am, you could have sat in Paris. When have you come back from Paris to be on a show if not for limelight? So it broke my heart. It gave me typical aunty vibes, which are all like, ‘Haan, main toh yeh hoon, main toh woh hoon,’ but you’re always and always favouring the boys more. You’re always wanting the boys to win. You’re only sad when the boys go, and you’re constantly talking shit about all the other…”
About Mallika’s Equation With Shalini Pasi
Concluding, she said, “You can also understand her equation with Shalini. They were so good, and then the moment she would go, she’s like, “Oh my God, yeh woh itna overacting kar rahi hai, yeh kar rahi hai, woh kar rahi hai. You know, it’s just that contrast between how she is with her outside, because I think it was right to behave with Shalini Pasi outside like that. But then when she would go to the videos, her true self would come out. So they’re also like, ‘Nautanki girl’ or ‘ladies’ lady’ or ‘aunty’s aunty,’ I don’t know.”
