Roohi Trailer: Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer is less horror and more comedy

The wait is over! The trailer of Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer Roohi is out. The film also stars Varun Sharma who plays Rajkummar’s on-screen friend. The film was earlier titled Rooh Afza and then Roohi Afzana. Now, it got the new title Roohi. The horror-comedy is directed by Kaamyaab fame Hardik Mehta.

The trailer tells the story of a witch, played by Janhvi Kapoor who abducts brides. Veer and Raj (Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma) take up the responsibility to save the brides from Roohi, the witch and they abduct her. Will Veer and Raj succeed in their mission? That forms the main plot of the story. In the trailer, it is said that Roohi will get salvation if she is married to a man. Towards the end of the trailer, we see Janhvi twisting her neck 360 degrees. The trailer looks like a typical horror film to me as everything seemed to be cliche. But the comic timing between Raj and Varun is commendable and we wish they have more to offer in the movie as well. There are lots of VFX works and Janhvi’s prosthetics is not bad. Well, we will have to wait for the movie to release on March 11 to see what new it has to offer.

Those who are thinking Roohi is a sequel to Stree, it’s not. Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films is creating a horror franchise. As reported by PTI, in a statement, Vijan said, “While Stree was a genre-bending tale that gave audiences something never seen before, Roohi takes this vision a step further by offering the same brand of spine chilling scares and quirky comedy.”
