In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, Paranjpye spoke about how she has not refrained from mentioning some note-worthy incidents in her book. And one such story was that involving lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Sai had collaborated with Javed Akhtar for her film ‘Saaz’ that featured Shabana Azmi, Aruna Irani and Zakir Hussain in lead roles. Javed had written lyrics for the film’s songs which won him the National Award for Best Lyrics. However, not all songs were written by him.

Yes, sharing the real story, Paranjpye told the tabloid, “ I haven’t shied away from the Javed Akhtar story(in her book). He was writing the lyrics of ‘Saaz’. A recording had been scheduled with Suresh Wadkar and Kavita Krishnamurthy, but he took off without so much as a by-your-leave to Khandala.”

She further added, “Overnight, I had to write the lyrics of the song ‘Baadal Ghumad Bhadh Aaye’. And what do you know? Javed Akhtar won the National Award for the ‘Saaz’ lyrics and (he) didn’t have the courtesy to say a simple thank you.”

Well, we wonder now what Javed Akhtar has to say about this incident.

Until the veteran lyricist comments on this episode, you guys stay tuned for more such interesting updates.
