Aneet Padda, the rising star of Saiyaara, wasn’t always in the spotlight. At 17, she was just a hopeful teenager with big dreams, slow internet, and a lot of Google searches like “acting auditions near me.” What followed was a tough but inspiring journey filled with fake casting calls, awkward audition tapes, and countless rejections — all of which led to her breakout moment.
Aneet Padda’s Journey From Small Town To Big-Screen Stardom
Aneet Padda shared that her love for acting began early. Speaking to Cosmopolitan India, “I was never a casual cinema-goer,” she said. A school play in Amritsar at age 10 sparked her interest in performance, but support was hard to find. Friends didn’t take her dreams seriously, and even her father, who once dreamed of acting himself, wasn’t encouraging at first. This made her doubt herself and stop dreaming for a while.
Still determined, Aneet began auditioning online. She came across many fake websites and even got friends to rehearse scenes with her, though she later joked that “the chemistry was a bit off.” During the Covid-19 pandemic, she sent emails and audition tapes to around 70 production houses, laughing that they all still have her “horrible biodata and Snapchat filter photos.”
Eventually, she learned that real casting often happens through professional agencies. Before landing her lead role in Saiyaara, she had small parts in Salaam Venky and the series Big Girls Don’t Cry.
Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and released on July 18, 2025, became a massive hit. The film, a musical romance co-starring Ahaan Panday, was praised for its story, music, and performances.
