Bollywood superstar Salman Khan may be one of the industry’s biggest stars, but the actor says he still depends on his father, Salim Khan, for guidance when making important career decisions. While promoting his upcoming projects, ‘Bhai’ opened up about his relationship with his father, his approach to scripts and the philosophy that has shaped his long-running career in cinema.
Salman Khan Reveals He Still Follows Father Salim Khan’s Advice
Speaking to Variety India, Salman Khan revealed that Salim Khan continues to be his strongest source of advice even today. He said, “My father. Even today, if I’m confused about something, I always take it to him. Whatever he says, I do that. Usually, people come to you for advice and still do what they want to do. That’s not the case with me.”
The Bhai of Bollywood also reflected on what he believes has helped him sustain his popularity over the decades. He shared, “I don’t know, and I don’t think anyone would. I mean, they would say, work hard, write scripts, your lifestyle, your discipline, but you never know what your fans like or dislike. I just believe that if you really like something, go ahead and do it. But, it has to be morally, ethically, and emotionally correct. And now politically.”
Salman Khan Reveals He Never Reads Scripts
During the interaction, Salman also made a surprising revelation about his process of choosing films. He explained, “I’ve never read a script in my entire life. I’ve written them, but I’ve never read them. I listen to scripts because when I start reading them, I’ve got this problem that I’m reading the third line and my mind is on the fifth. So, the three lines are different. What I prefer is to hear the script from the writer or director. So I know what kind of film he’s making and what his vision is. Otherwise, if I read it, then it goes into how I would make the film, and my vision would be different from the director’s or the writer’s.”
Salman’s Upcoming Films
In a career spanning nearly 4 decades, Salman Khan has starred in a number of iconic films such as Tere Naam, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! Maine Pyar Kiya, Dabangg film franchise, YRF’s Tiger films and more. He was last seen on the big screen in Ritesh Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji. For his cameo appearance, Khan essayed the role of Jiva Mahala. His last full-length role in a theatrical film was AR Murugadoss’s Sikandar.
Salman will soon be seen in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan. However, the project has since undergone several changes since. The film is produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi. It stars Salman as an Indian Army Colonel as well as Chitrangda Singh. An official release date is yet to be announced.
