Salman Khan On Never Reading A Script In His Career

Salman Khan – who stepped into Bollywood in 1988 by playing a supporting character in Biwi Ho To Aisi and then the lead in Maine Pyar Kita the next year, has starred in over 100 films. Recently, the ‘Maatrubhumi’ actor sat down for a conversation with Variety India and got candid about various aspects of his life and career. A while ago, the publication shared a promo on social media and the clip’s going viral.

In the promo, Salman admits that he has never actually read a script in his entire career. The video features the ‘Dabangg’ actor saying, “I’ve never read a script in my entire life. I’ve written them, but I’ve never read them.” For the unversed, Salman has writing credits for films like Baaghi, Veer and Dabangg 3. In the past, the actor had stated that he prefers to understand a film’s overall feel, treatment, and commercial appeal rather than read a script from start to finish.

That’s not all. In the same promo clip, Salman Khan is also seen addressing the constant buzz surrounding the luxury watches he’s often seen wearing in public. Talking about the high-end timepieces – several of which are reported to come with an 8-digit price tag aka cost more than Rs 1 crore, Salman said in Hindi, “You see me wearing watches that don’t mean the watches are mine. It is this friend and that friend’s watch…”

Salman’s Upcoming Films

In a career spanning nearly 4 decades, Salman Khan has starred in a number of iconic films such as Tere Naam, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! Maine Pyar Kiya, Dabangg film franchise, YRF’s Tiger films and more. He was last seen on the big screen in Ritesh Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji. For his cameo appearance, Khan essayed the role of Jiva Mahala. His last full-length role in a theatrical film was AR Murugadoss’s Sikandar.

Salman will soon be seen in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan. However, the project has since undergone several changes since. The film is produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi. It stars Salman as an Indian Army Colonel as well as Chitrangda Singh. An official release date is yet to be announced.
