On Valentine’s Day 2026, Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Ali announced their next project, Heer Ranjha, marking their return to epic romance. The film is a cinematic adaptation of the classic Punjabi folk tale. The film will be backed by Ektaa Kapoor, marking her reunion with Imtiaz and Sajid after Laila Majnu, starring Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri. Heer Ranjha marks the second chapter of the Laila Majnu franchise, carrying forward its love legend and deep-rooted connection with audiences. Amid the excitement about the film, the speculations around the casting have been ongoing. A new report suggests that Dhurandhar fame Sara Arjun might step in as the female lead for Heer Ranjha.

Sara Arjun To Play Female Lead In Imitiaz Ali’s Heer Ranjha?

According to Mid-Day, Sara, who made waves in 2025 with her appearance in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, is the top contender to play the female lead in Sajid Ali’s directorial venture. It is being said that the makers are looking for a fresh face, and Sara checks the box. A source told the portal, “The team is looking for a relatively fresh face. After ‘Dhurandhar’, Sara has emerged as one of the most promising young actors today. She is among the strongest names being evaluated for Heer.”

For the male lead, Rohit Saraf’s name has been doing the rounds. Although there’s no official confirmation from the makers yet. But it would be interesting to see Rohit and Sara romancing on the big screen. As of now, the casting process is underway. Sara will be seen in Dhurandhar 2 alongside Ranveer Singh.
