Shah Rukh Khan had a ‘unique’ condition before shooting with Amitabh Bachchan, reveals R Balki

In August end this year, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan sent the internet into a frenzy with a picture hinting at their reunion. The audience was wondering what project they were getting together for. It turned out to be an ad campaign which was directed by R Balki. And while it was only a small ad, people got to see the two superstars together again. And now, an interesting revelation has come up from the shoot of it.

Shah Rukh Khan had a condition to shoot with Amitabh Bachchan

SRK and Big B have shared screen in a couple of films before, but this was a reunion coming after a while. And since he was shooting with Bachchan sir after a long time, King Khan had a special condition. While talking to Radio Nasha recently, Balki revealed, “They met on the day of the shoot. It was so simple, and Shah Rukh was saying, ‘Just make sure that I am there 10 minutes before Amit ji. You hold him up wherever you can. I have to reach 10 minutes before Amit ji, whatever happens.’”

The filmmaker went on to reveal that Shah Rukh was ready to come even as early as 7:30 am. He didn’t want Big B to compromise on his requirement. Balki added, “I said, ‘Shah Rukh, let’s start at 2.’ He said, ‘Fantastic. So, I’ll be there at 1:50.’ Shah Rukh was there half an hour before Amit ji. He was ready before Amit ji came in. He was out there, and they were cracking jokes, happy, and each one was directing the other. So it was like one old school reunion. They get along famously together. So it was just like the most fun day I’ve had in an ad shoot. We shot for 12 hours.”

Shah Rukh and Bachchan are two of the biggest superstars Indian cinema has ever seen. The two of them came together on screen for the first time in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein. Post that, they did Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Veer-Zaara and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

For SRK, it has been a great year as he delivered two biggest hits of Hindi cinema at the box office with Pathaan and Jawan. He has one more release for this Christmas, Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. As for Bachchan, his most recent project is the Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon starrer Ganapath. The film released on October 20. He has many other films in pipeline now including Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and the courtroom drama Section 84.
