The year 2023 has been completely owned by Shah Rukh Khan at the ticket counters. The superstar began the year with a box office storm in Pathaan and then took it higher with his recent release Jawan. Shah Rukh Khan is set to close the year in style too with Rajkumar Hirani directed Dunki. And now there is a new update on the same.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki to release a day early overseas

Dunki was announced to have a Christmas 2023 release date on December 22, 2023. After the magnanimous successes of Pathaan and Jawan, there were reports that it might get pushed to next year. However, at the Jawan success press conference, King Khan clarified that he will keep his Christmas promise.

Now, a report in Pinkvilla suggests that the film will have an even earlier release in the overseas market. A source close to the development shared, “Dunki is expected to be a global phenomenon and all the stakeholders are keen to position it as a global offering from Indian Cinema. While Jawan’s campaign focused on the Southern market, with Dunki, Red Chillies will be going global with their appeal and messaging. Big plans are in place and the plans are locked to bring the film in the international markets on December 21, reaping the benefit of the extended holiday period.”

The source clarified that it wouldn’t just be late-night premieres on Dec 21 globally. Dunki will have a full-fledged theatrical day. It gives the film a four-day extended weekend to perform overseas and it is expected to reap its benefits.

Dunki vs Salaar clash

Recently, reports surfaced that Prabhas starrer Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire is also looking for a Christmas 2023 release. Hence, it will clash with Dunki. So, the source stated that because of it, Hirani might release the film a day earlier in India too. SRK’s popularity is at an all-time high currently and an unconventional Thursday release won’t hamper the film’s prospects much. As of now, any official announcement on the film is awaited, which also stars Taapsee Pannu.
