Opening up on his break up and going through the painful phase in his life, Shahid told Pinkvilla, “Only a certain part of the film is about self-destruction. I’ve been there and I’ve seen so many of my friends be there. We all at different points in life have fallen apart emotionally. We’ve all gone through phases where we have felt rejected and not liked ourselves. We don’t feel happy about living. Most of the people I know, including me, have been through those phases. And they are the most vulnerable times in your life.”

The actor went on to add that during a heartbreak, people generally aren’t in the right head space. And they are the most vulnerable phases of one’s life. When asked about his first heartbreak, Shahid recalled, “It was very bad. It happened during my school days. I was in my ninth standard and I really liked this girl. We had just four girls in the class so there were limited options to crush on. Apparently, half the class liked her and I wasn’t even in the top 5-6 people on her mind. She probably didn’t even know much about me. That’s it”

The 38-year-old actor went on to add that over the years, his opinion on love has changed. Shahid also said that he wants people suffering or feeling low in love to know that they are not alone. He cited this as one of the reasons why he wants people to watch ‘Kabir Singh’.

The Sandeep Vanga film will hit the screens on June 21.
