shahid kapoor, shahid kapoor father, pankaj kapur

Shahid Kapoor is one of the hardest working actors in Bollywood. Shahid, who made his acting debut with Ishq Vishq, has come a long way in his career. Given that he is a son of Pankaj Kapur and Neliima Azeem, many might have thought that his journey to become a big star has been easy. However, it wasn’t so. The actor has had his share of ups and downs. Shahid, who is currently busy promoting Bloody Daddy, sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble. During the conversation, Shahid got candid as he opened up about his struggling days.

Shahid Kapoor recalls his struggling days

The actor told us, “I’m one of those self-made guys who people think because his papa was an actor, he got it easy. And I get very upset with that. I’m like ‘hey guys, you don’t know my struggle’. Just because my father was Pankaj Kapur doesn’t mean that I had it easy because I didn’t even live with him. I lived with my mom.”

Pankaj Kapur and Neliima Azeem parted ways when Shahid was only three years old. Post the separation of his parents, Shahid lived with his mom. Shahid’s relationship with his dad wasn’t always great but it became better with time. For the uninitiated, Shahid and Pankaj worked together in two movies – Shaandaar and Jersey.

After Pankaj, Neliima married Rajesh Khattar, with whom she welcomed son Ishaan. Shahid shares a close bond with Ishaan.

Talking about his dad, Shahid added, “He (Pankaj) was a very proud man. He would never tell his son ki mein yaha call kar deta hoon, jaake unse mil le. He was not like that. He was like I struggled my way up and I was too proud to ask him also ever for any support. In fact, I never even brough it up with him neither did he ever ask me. It just never came up. So of course, it has been 20 years of a lot of work.”

For the uninitiated, Shahid Kapoor was only 22 years old when he made his acting debut with Ishq Vishq. Post that, Shahid appeared in films like Jab We Met, R… Rajkumar, Padmaavat, and Kabir Singh among others.

With hard work and talent, Shahid has successfully carved a niche for himself in the industry. Earlier this year, Shahid delivered a terrific performance in Raj & DK’s Farzi. After delivering a phenomenal performance in the web series, Shahid is now gearing up for the release of Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy. Bloody Daddy will start premiering on Jio Cinema from June 9.
