Shahid Kapoor has been entertaining the masses – first through his chocolate boy and now with his gangster avatar, for decades. The actor, who debuted in Bollywood in 2003 with Ishq Vishk, recently stunned all with his killer avatar in Sajid Nadiadwala and Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo. However, a section of internet users have been penning negative comments in connection to the film and his acting.
During a recent interview, the actor got candid about the incessant trolling actors face online and how he deals with it. Alongside that, he also spoke about the importance of having a balance when it comes to allowing public opinion in your life. Read on to know all he said.
Shahid Kapoor On Dealing With Online Trolls & Trolling
While talking on The Right Angle podcast, Shahid Kapoor shared his mantra on how to keep sane while dealing with online views and trolls. The O’Romeo star said, “It’s a difficult journey because you have to open up, but also be mindful of what and how much you allow to sit in your system. Do you want to wake every morning and make everyone happy or yourself happy?”
He continued, “You need to reiterate to yourself, ‘Did I have a good time? Did it help me grow? And was it a true representation of my creative energy?’ Ultimately, it needs to satisfy my hard work and the feeling of achieving something.”
Talking about trollers – aka those anonymous users who forget boundaries while sharing their ‘thoughts’ about other on the internet Shahid said, “I say it all the time, no matter what, people can call me old-fashioned, but aapki bolne ki aukaat honi chahiye, tabhi mooh kholna chaiye, ye mujhe bachpan se sikhaya gya hai.”
Shahid Kapoor concluded, “Pehle aap dekho ki aap kitne paani mein ho, phir baat karo. So you have to keep yourself calm amidst all this, of course, be open to constructive criticism, but at the same time fill yourself with positivity and back yourself up.”
