Slapgate update: Supreme Court orders Govinda to apologize to his fan

In 2008, Govinda called for a big controversy when he apparently slapped a fan named Santosh Rai on the sets of his film ‘Money Hai Toh Honey Hai.’ Since then, people criticised him for his indecent behaviour and the incident was then taken to the court. After one year of the incident, Santosh Rai filed a case against the star in the Bombay High Court but, his case was then quashed by the court stating that why he filed the case after a year from the incident took place?

Following this, Santosh Rai then moved to the Supreme Court to find justice. The lawyers of both the parties put forth their arguments but it’s only Santosh Rai who emerged victorious. Supreme Court sent out it’s verdict in the favour of Mr. Rai and has asked Govinda to apologize to his fan. Apart from this, he has also been asked to pay rupees 5 Lakhs to Santosh Rai. The victim had said that he felt humiliated when Govinda slapped him in public whereas the actor’s lawyers said that Santosh entered the shoot premises without permission and misbehaved with the girls.

Supreme Court has granted two weeks to Govinda to comply with the orders. Govinda was quoted saying, “I have immense love and respect for my fans who also wanted me to apologize” after the hearing.
