Cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal were all set to get married soon, but their wedding has now been postponed due to an unexpected family emergency. Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack on the morning of the ceremony.

The incident took place at the Mandhana Farm House in Samdol, Sangli, where the wedding preparations were in full swing. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Sangli for treatment. Smriti and her family rushed to the hospital as soon as they received the news. According to Smriti’s business manager, her father is currently stable but under strict medical observation.
Speaking about the situation, her manager shared, “In the morning, while having breakfast, Mr. Mandhana suddenly felt unwell. At first, we thought he would feel better soon, but his condition started worsening. To avoid any risk, he was shifted to the hospital, where doctors are now monitoring him.”
He also added that Smriti is very close to her father and the family has decided to postpone the wedding until he recovers. The wedding team has cancelled today’s ceremony, and all decorations at the venue are being removed.
While the family was still coming to terms with the situation, another health setback emerged. As per an NDTV report, Smriti’s fiancé, musician Palash Muchhal, was also taken to a private hospital after his condition deteriorated due to a viral infection and increased acidity. His issue was not considered serious and he was discharged shortly after receiving treatment, returning to the hotel the same evening.
The couple’s wedding, one of the most anticipated events in Indian sport this year, will now be rescheduled once the family’s medical situation stabilises. For now, both families are prioritising recovery, with doctors expected to reassess Srinivas Mandhana’s condition on Monday before determining further treatment.
Smriti and Palash’s wedding was originally expected to take place on November 23 in the presence of close family and friends. Several members of the Indian women’s cricket team were also part of the celebrations.
In the past few days, many pictures and videos from the Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies went viral on social media, giving fans a glimpse of the beautiful celebrations. However, with this sudden turn of events, the remaining functions have been put on hold indefinitely.
The couple and their families have requested privacy as they focus on the recovery and well-being of Srinivas Mandhana.
