Actor Sonu Sood has proved that he is a true blue real-life hero this year as he helped migrants and other citizens reach their home amidst the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The actor has quite literally gone out of the way to help each and everyone to the best of his capabilities.

Well, good deeds don’t go unnoticed as the actor is hailed by the whole country and now he has been conferred with one of the most prestigious awards that is, the SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Sonu has received this award for helping lakhs of migrants and other stranded students across the nation and then beyond to return home safely. Apart from that, the actor has provided free education and medical facilities to many young children along with creating free employment opportunities for those suffering in this Covid-19 pandemic.

Sonu was honoured with the award this Monday through a virtual ceremony. Expressing his gratitude, Sonu said, “This is a rare honour. UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations. However, to be recognised and awarded feels good.”

He further added, “I fully support the UNDP in its endeavours to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Planet Earth and mankind will greatly benefit from the implementation of these goals.”

Priyanka Chopra also congratulated Sonu on his felicitation, she took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “Congratulations @SonuSood . So well deserved! You continue to do God’s work and it’s so inspiring to see. Thank you for all that you do.”

Apart from Sonu, other celebrities who were honoured with the SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award are Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, David Beckham and Priyanka Chopra to name a few.
