Sooraj Pancholi, son of Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi, has been making headlines ever since he was accused of abetting Jiah Khan’s suicide. Sooraj was then arrested by the Mumbai Police. He was kept in the prsion for more than a month and was later released on bail. Today, a special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court gave its verdict in connection with the death of Jiah Khan. The Hero actor was found ‘not guilty’ by the court.

Back in 2019, Sooraj broke his silence for the first time in the Jiah Khan death case. In an old interview, the actor had recalled his days in the prison. That’s not all, he revealed why he kept quiet even though nasty things were written about him.

Recalling the tough days, Sooraj had said, “I was put in the anda cell at the Arthur Road jail which is the most secluded cell. You have no contact with anyone and you don’t even get newspapers. I was completely numb. At that point, nothing mattered. All that I kept thinking was that I lost someone who I loved.”

Further, Sooraj was asked about his silence and he said, “I have actually been silent because I respect that family. I respect what the family has been through.” The actor then went to talk about media’s role in the whole matter. Sooraj said, “The media has become very irresponsible. They only care about their TRPs. There are times when I’m in court and things have been in my favour and a lot of journalists were there. I asked them, ‘Will you write this?’ They told me they won’t because it’s a positive story and it won’t track. It’s unfair but I also believe in time.”

After years of fighting for justice, Sooraj was found ‘not guilty’ today. Judge AS Sayyed of special CBI court said, “Due to paucity of evidence, this court can’t hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted.” After the verdict, Sooraj took to his Instagram Stories and reacted to the court’s judgement. The actor wrote, “The Truth Always Wins #GodIsGreat.”

Finally, Sooraj and his family can breathe a sigh of relief.
