Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi is now set to release in summer May-June 2021. As per a report in SpotboyE, the producers and Akshay Kumar are ‘in agreement in a quick release’. The report states that any further delay can only cause harm to the film’s performance. So, apparently, director Rohit Shetty who has also co-produced the film is in agreement on the new release strategy.

A source said that “Rohit and Reliance Entertainment who are co-producers on the project have decided they would go about doing the biggest post-Covid release in India in May-June with approximately 2,000 prints across India. They’re hoping Sooryavanshi will bring the audience back into theatres.”

The cop film was slated to release on March 24, 2020. It was announced just before the nationwide lockdown. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the release was postponed. As the theatres were shut, the makers were waiting for it to open. Now, as theatres have been given the permission to open with 100 per cent capacity, the makers have decided to release the movie in theatres. A few days back there were reports that it will release on April 2.

Well, if it’s releasing in theatres, it’s great news for the makers as well as the audience as they will experience watching the cop drama in big screens after so many months. Also, makers will encash a good amount if the movie performs well. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Sooryavanshi also stars Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and many others. This will be the first big film to release in theatres post the Covid-19 lockdown.

After Singham, Singham Returns and Simmba, Sooryavanshi is the 4th film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe.
