Sooryavanshi is one of the most anticipated movies of Akshay Kumar scheduled to release in 2021. This film will be the fourth addition to Rohit Shetty’s cop universe after Ajay Devgn’s Singham, Singham Returns and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba. Many movies had come to a standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic and there was a deadlock between theatres and OTT platforms. But looks like the makers of Sooryavanshi are aiming for a simultaneous theatre and OTT release.

Reports suggest that Sooryavanshi might just strike a deal where it hits OTT platforms and theatres simultaneously. Apparently, theatres might get to release the Akshay and Katrina Kaif starrer 24 hours before the digital platforms but nothing has been confirmed yet.

According to a report by SpotboyE, a source revealed, “Discussions are on and movie theatres may be allowed to release Sooryavanshi 24 hours ahead of the digital platform, or something similar where the two platforms get breathing space between each other.”

The source further revealed that the discussions between the producers and exhibitors have not reached a productive stage yet. It is because both the parties are adamant on wanting to release the film first.

Apart from Akshay, the film also stars Katrina, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and others. The announcement of Sooryavanshi was made in the closing credits of Simmba and since then the fans are eager for its release. The cop film was slated to release on March 24, 2020. But, given the nationwide lockdown due to the pandemic, its release date got pushed.
