Sudhir Mishra Shekhar Kapur

“Chameli” director Sudhir Mishra says it is filmmaker Shekhar Kapur who taught him the importance of water conservation, and that it is because of him that he started implementing caution in using water in real life.

Present at a special screening of the film, “Kaun Kitney Paani Mein”, Mishra said, “Shekhar Kapur taught me water conservation as he is extremely passionate about water.”

Explaining what tips on water conservation from Kapur he incorporated into his life, Mishra said: “I never drink bottled water. I’ve fixed the flush so that only minimal water in released. Even while shaving, I generally use a mug and don’t keep the tap open, so that water is not wasted unnecessarily. All these small things were taught by Shekhar.”

The maker of films such as “Bandit Queen” and “Mr. India”, Shekhar Kapur is reportedly working on his next venture “Paani”, which intends to highlight the problem of water scarcity in the country.

“Kaun Kitney Paani Mein” is a quirky satire on the same issue, while “Paani” is said to be a bit more serious and intense.

The former is directed by Nila Madhab Panda, and it stars stars Kunal Kapoor, Radhika Apte, Saurabh Shukla and Gulshan Grover in lead roles.
