The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Priya Kapur and 22 others in the ongoing trust dispute filed by Rani Kapur, mother of the late Sunjay Kapur. Rani Kapur has alleged that the RK Family Trust was established without her informed consent while she was unwell, resulting in her being excluded from assets that originally belonged to her.
Rani Kapur Accuses Priya Sachdev, Karisma’s Kids Samaira, Kiaan Kapoor And Others Of RK Trust Fraud
This case is part of a protracted inheritance dispute following Sunjay Kapur’s death last year. The next hearing is scheduled for March. Notably, a day before this development, a single-judge bench had recused itself from hearing the civil suit filed by 80-year-old Rani, citing concerns that the “fraudulent family trust” was created to deprive her of her entire estate. The case has now been assigned to Justice Mini Pushkarna.
As reported by ANI, the bench led by Justice Pushkarna issued notices to Priya Kapur, wife of the late industrialist and Sona Comstar chairman Sunjay Kapur, along with 22 other respondents. The court did not grant any immediate interim relief, such as a status quo order over the trust, and listed the matter for further hearing on March 23. This legal battle has been ongoing for over six months since Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise due to a heart attack in June last year.
Who All Will Be Summoned?
In her petition, Rani Kapur challenged both the creation and management of the RK Family Trust. She claims it was formed without her knowledge or consent. She has named Priya Kapur, her daughter-in-law, as a respondent, along with other beneficiaries. This includes the children of actress Karisma Kapoor.
Sunjay’s Children
Karisma was Sunjay’s second wife. Ahe and Sunjay separated and divorced in 2016, and they share two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Sunjay married Priya in 2017, and they had a son, Azarias, before his passing.
