‘De De Pyaar De’ has been in the news since the trailer was released. It has faced criticisms for taking the #MeToo accused Alok Nath and also for promoting sexism. Now, Tabu who is part of it has come in support of her movie saying that it is not a sexist movie.

In an interview to Mid-Day, Tabu said, “Akiv Ali has offered an interesting take on relationships. Once you see it in the context of the film and not just the trailer, things become a lot clearer. The movie hasn’t been made with an intention to be sexist. In fact, the female characters in the film are strong; they take a stand and make their own decisions. So I’d like people to watch the movie and then comment.”

Tabu said that she enjoys doing good work and doesn’t discriminate between films. She loves doing masala films with songs and dance, but she won’t go out of her way and approach a director for it.

The ‘Drishyam’ actress further talked about the movie saying, “De De Pyaar De talks about divorce, children affected by separation, a young girl’s attraction to an older man and her conflict with his past. Bollywood films have always portrayed separation in a serious manner, but we have offered a light take on it.”

‘De De Pyaar De’ stars Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet, and Jimmy Sheirgill among others. The movie is slated to hit the screens on May 17.
