The biopic of Shiv Sena chief late Balasaheb Thackeray has been a topic of discussion for a while now. Titled as ‘Thackeray’ starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role, the film has hit the big screens today and the audience is already lining up to see the biopic. The film is released in both Hindi and Marathi language.

However, a controversy erupted on Thursday after a video surfaced showing ‘Thackeray’ film’s director Abhijit Panse leaving a cinema hall in a huff where the movie’s premiere was held. Reportedly, he walked out after being asked to sit in the theatre’s front row. The video also shows producer of the film, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, apparently persuading Panse to stay back, but the latter refused to budge. The two, however, were not audible in the video.

Bal Thackeray was the original angry young man. His ideology came to light in the early 1960s. The centrepiece of his sharp and witty commentary was the depiction of what he saw as the plight of the Marathi people. The people were crazy about him. They adore him, respected him and would do anything for him.

Now as the biopic is released today, the security at each and every theatre has been beefed up reportedly to ensure a smooth running of the film’s show. Right from Mumbai CST to Khopoli and in other parts of Maharashtra, the state police is guarding the theatres and monitoring it.

The move comes after a group of Shiv Sena workers of Vashi on Thursday created a ruckus at a city multiplex for not displaying the movie posters of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming biopic.

In the biopic, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is playing a titular role while actress Amrita Rao will be seen portraying the role of his wife Meena Tai.
