Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Salman Khan

When there is a Salman Khan movie releasing on a particular date, seldom does any filmmaker dare to release their movie on the same date. That’s one of the major reasons why we see Salman Khan’s movie releasing solo during Eid festivities every year. This time, his highly awaited flick ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ which reunites him and Katrina Kaif after five years will release on December 22, during Christmas.

And ever since the trailer of the movie was unveiled, the 29 million + mark on social media is a proof of the level of anticipation that the film has garnered. In fact, a Hollywood movie named ‘Jumanji’ starring Dwayne Johnson in the lead postponed its release date from December 20 to December 29. So, we were under the impression that none of the makers be it Bollywood or Hollywood are ready to fight it out with Salman Khan at the box office. However, that isn’t the case as Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer ‘Monsoon Shootout’ will fight it out with ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ on December 22 at the box office. The movie had its premiere at Cannes in the year 2013, but it couldn’t get a release date that time. Now, after four years, it is finally releasing in cinema halls and the interesting part is that it will be releasing on the same day as Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. Interestingly, Salman Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui have worked together in two movies namely ‘Kick’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. In fact, Nawaz was offered a role in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ too but he turned it down citing date issues.

Sources reveal, “No other date is available before that. Besides, after December 22 there are no releases for 2 weeks and the makers want to cash in on that. Also, the audience for Salman starrer and Monsoon shootout is completely different, there won’t be any clash as such.” Talking of ‘Monsoon Shootout’, it features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Verma, Neeraj Kabi and Tannishtha Chatterjee in prominent roles. Helmed by Amit Kumar, the movie is that of a police officer who experiences a life-changing decision of when he just decided to shoot or not.
