Varun Dhawan Border 2

With just around a month left until the highly anticipated war drama, Border 2, releases in cinemas worldwide, the makers unveiled a soul-stirring teaser in Mumbai today. During the event, the film’s director, Anurag Singh, shared an interesting behind-the-scenes anecdote about one of the film’s most spine-tingling moments.

The filmmaker revealed that it was Varun Dhawan, who plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, PVC, in the upcoming epic, who suggested adding the now much-talked-about catchphrase: “Awaaz kaha tak jaani chahiye… Lahore tak!” Scroll below to read all that Varun had to do to make sure the makers used the dialogue in the final cut.

Varun Dhawan Revealed, “Mere Raungte Khade Ho Gaye The”

According to Border 2 director Anurag Singh, Varun Dhawan felt strongly about the line’s emotional and cinematic impact. However, Varun himself admitted that Anurag is not someone who adds anything to the film unless it already exists organically within the script.

The actor, who plays an army official in the war drama, shared, “This moment felt real, powerful, and it was something unfolding right in front of our eyes. I knew it would be impactful. I told him to use it, and he replied,  ‘Mai sirf teaser me use karunga'” drawing applause from the audience.

Uncertain whether the line would ultimately make it into the final cut, Varun then revealed he turned to Sunny Deol, who essays the role of Lt. Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler in the film, for help. He confessed to asking Sunny to vouch for the dialogue. Recalling Sunny Deol’s delivery of the line, Varun said, “Mere raungte khade ho gaye the. (I literally got goosebumps)”

Concluding the anecdote, Anurag emphasised the film’s authenticity, stating that Border 2 remains deeply rooted in reality. He revealed that the events, characters, stories and even the dialogues featured in the film are drawn from real accounts of the Indian Armed Forces.
