Veteran actor Bharat Kapoor – who was widely loved and respected for his commanding screen presence, is no more. The actor who gained prominence by playing supporting and villainous roles across Hindi cinema and television, has passed away at age 80 in Mumbai on April 27. Veteran Actor Bharat Kapoor Dies At 80

Ashoke Pandit took to social media and confirmed the sad news. Expressing his grief on his Instagram Stories, Ashoke wrote, “Sad to know about the demise of veteran theatre and film actor Bharat Kapoor ji. Have great memories working with him in the initial days of my career. A great human being. Om Shanti.”

As per reports, Kapoor passed away on April 27 at around 3:30 pm at Sion Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were held later in the evening at around 6:30 pm, in the presence of family members and close friends.

Talking about his demise, the veteran actor’s close friend, actor Avtar Gill told India Today, “I just came from the cremation, which took place at 6:30 pm. He passed away at around 3 pm today at Sion Hospital in Mumbai. He had not been keeping well for the past three days. Over the last few days, his multiple organs had started failing.”

The veteran actor began his acting career in 1972 and was active for about four decades. Some of Kapoor’s most notable works include Noorie, Ram Balram, Love Story, Swarg, Khuda Gawah, Satyamev Jayate, and more. In later years, some of his notable movies include Barsaat, Sajaan Chale Sasural, and Meenakshi.

Like many film actors of his generation, Bharat Kapoor also successfully transitioned to television when the medium boomed in India. He appeared in several known serials including Tara, Campus, Amanat, Parampara and Bhagyavidhaata.
