Farah Khan asked Abhishek Bachchan who Ed Sheeran was, recalls calling his songs ‘funeral music’

Former English footballer David Beckham was in India for a few days. Sonam Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan hosted parties for him at their respective houses. Going by the viral photos, David Beckham had a lot of fun. The photos reminded netizens of the time Ed Sheeran had visited India in 2017. In case you don’t remember, Farah Khan had hosted a party for Ed Sheeran which was attended by Abhishek Bachchan, Malaika Arora, and Shah Rukh Khan among others. Years after Ed Sheeran’s visit to India, Farah has now revealed that she had no idea who he was when she invited him to the party. Yes, you read that right! It was Abhishek Bachchan who briefed her about Ed Sheeran.

Farah Khan had no idea who Ed Sheeran was

During a conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Lambachiyaa, Farah shared a cousin of hers, who works as a lawyer at a music company, asked her if she could show Ed around Mumbai as he was travelling to India for his concerts. Recalling the days, she shared, “I didn’t know who Ed Sheeran was so I thought it’s one of his friends. I didn’t bother.” Her cousin asked her again and she ignored him. It was after Farah’s aunt called her, she asked Abhishek Bachchan, “Who is Ed Sheeran?” and he responded saying, “He’s just the number one singer in the world.”

Farah called Ed Sheeran’s songs ‘funeral music’

Recalling the party, Farah revealed she yelled at the DJ for playing ‘funeral music’. However, much to her surprise, ‘the ‘funeral music’ turned out to be Ed Sheeran’s songs. She said, “At the party, I was yelling at the DJ ‘Why are you playing funeral music?’ He said, ‘Ma’am this is Ed Sheeran’s music’.”

Farah went on to add that the singer had a lot of fun and didn’t want to hear his own music at the party. Adding to that, Farah said, “He left at 2 am as he had a concert the next day. He said I can stay here till morning but I have to perform tomorrow. The next day, he sent me 20 front row VIP passes for his show. But I didn’t go.”

For the unversed, Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Asia Tour begins next year. The tour will kick off in Mumbai on 16^th March, 2024. It’ll be interesting to see who hosts parties for Ed Sheeran next year.
