Veteran actor Jeetendra has turned a year older today. The actor worked in over 200 films that were remakes of South films. Jeene Ki Raah, Jigri Dost, Waris, Himmatwala, Tohfa and others were the Hindi remakes that featured Jeetendra. Today, as he has turned 79, let’s talk about an old interview where the actor spoke about how he owes his career to the South film industry.

In K Raghavendra Rao’s talk show called Soundarya Lahari, Jeetendra that Telugu is a very beautiful word for him and he owes a lot of things to Telugu people because his first big hit was with the filmmaker LV Prasad. He considered LV Prasad as his guru. “If I called anybody my father after my own, it is him,” said the actor.

Jeetendra also said that he got a lot of love from Telugu people and in his worst crisis, they helped him.

Jeetendra worked with Raghavendra Rao on over 11 films and their combination was very much popular. The actor also spoke about a film called Deedar-E-Yaar, which took five years to complete and it was a huge box-office failure. He lost Rs 2.5 crore. At the same time, he was shooting for Himmatwala with Raghuvendra Rao and it became a blockbuster. He said that Raghavendra Rao and Telugu brought him back to life and he bounced back and made money.

He also recalled how he felt when Raghuvendra Rao said he would be working with Sridevi in Himmatwala. He was very happy to work with the actress. “I used to call Sridevi and Jaya Prada as my bread and butter”, said Jeetendra as he worked with them in many movies like Aulad, Maqsad, Majaal and others.
