Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar starrer Samrat Prithviraj hit the screens on June 3. The movie had a slow start as it clashed with Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram and Adivi Sesh’s Major. It minted Rs 10.70 crore on its first Friday (Day 1). On Saturday and Sunday, the movie saw a rise in collection but on Monday, it witnessed a major drop. On Thursday (June 9) on Day 7, the biopic pocketed only Rs 2.80 crore. The total box-office collection of Samrat Prithviraj now stands at Rs 55.05 crore in India. The Akshay Kumar starrer has to struggle a lot to reach the coveted Rs 100 crore club.

Trade analyst and film critic, Taran Adarsh sharing Samrat Prithviraj box-office report wrote on Twitter, #SamratPrithviraj is rejected… The heavy budget on one hand and the poor outcome on the other, has sent shock waves within the industry… Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.60 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 5 cr, Tue 4.25 cr, Wed 3.60 cr, Thu 2.80 cr. Total: ₹ 55.05 cr. #India biz.”

Samrat Prithviraj is based on the life of the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan who fought against Muhammad of Ghori. Manushi played Prithviraj Chauhan’s beloved, Sanyogita. The film also starred Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood. It is directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi and backed by Yash Raj Films. It released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
