‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ beats ‘Golmaal Again’! Becomes the highest Bollywood grosser of 2017

Tiger Zinda Hai collection

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s magic has worked wonderfully at the box office. Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ started on a brilliant note commercially and continued its great run on weekdays too.

The film on Thursday collected approx. Rs 15.75 crore, taking the first week total to Rs 206.25 crore. In just seven days, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer has beaten the lifetime collection of Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Golmaal Again’. Till date it was the Rohit Shetty directorial which was the highest Bollywood grosser of 2017 with the collection on Rs 205.33 crore, but now it’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.

‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ will surely show a growth at the box office in its second weekend as there’s no competition. Plus, it is still the vacation season going on. If the movie collects around Rs 50 crore in its second weekend, then the lifetime surely looks around or more than Rs 300 crore.

While Salman has balanced the year with a flop (‘Tubelight’) and a blockbuster, ‘TZH’ is surely the hit that Katrina Kaif required. (Also Read: Tiger Zinda Hai movie review: Tiger is back with a lot of swag in this massy entertainer)

‘1921’and ‘Mukkabaaz’ score more than Saif’s ‘Kaalakaandi’ at the box office

If three films respectively starring Zareen Khan, Saif Ali Khan and a relatively newcomer actor like Vineet Singh have hit the screens on the same day, we are sure everyone would expect that the movie starring Saif would lead at the box office. But, unfortunately that has not happened this weekend.

On January 12, 2018, three films had hit the screens; Zareen-starrer ‘1921’, Anurag Kashyap’s directorial ‘Mukkabaaz’ and Saif Ali Khan-starrer ‘Kaalakaandi’. From all the three films, it was ‘1921’ that did the best in the first weekend.

The Vikram Bhatt directorial collected Rs 6.25 crore approx. in three days. Well, this collection is quite low, and the only positive thing for the movie is that it has collected more than a Saif Ali Khan-starrer.

Talking about ‘Mukkabaaz’, the film started on a very slow note, but picked up during the weekend. It has collected Rs 4 crore approx. and if it continues to do well in the weekdays then it might just turn out to be a sleeper hit.

The first weekend collection of the movie is Rs 2.90 crore approx. Unfortunately, one more flop for Saif Ali Khan. (Also Read: Kaalakaandi movie review: ALL kaala and NO kaandi)
