Yami Gautam has established herself as a strong force over the years who can lead films from the front. And she has done it yet again with her recent release Lost, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. Before the film’s release, the actress-director duo got into an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble where they spoke about the origin of the idea behind the film. Yami reflected on the change of industry’s perspective towards her, as from being referred after her leading men and directors in conversations, she is now mentioned first. She also shared how the success of Bala had that affect. Yami also recalled how the same people who criticised her for Kaabil during the film’s release, appreciated her later on after she became more successful. While Aniruddha offered a different take on casting issues for female-led films, Yami admitted that they persist as the big leading men don’t want to be a part of female-driven films. She gave an example of Chaalbaaz and Seeta Aur Geeta to show how secure leading men used to be earlier, hoping for a similar change in future. Aniruddha explained his absence from films for 7 years between Pink and Lost. You can watch the entire conversation here.
