As filmmaker Aditya Dhar continues to receive praise for Dhurandhar and its sequel. Yami Gautam recently opened up about their relationship and intimate wedding ceremony. She also shared why the couple chose a simple Himachal Pradesh wedding rooted in traditions, family values and personal emotions.

Yami Gautam Didn’t Have A MuA For Her Marriage To Aditya Dhar?

Speaking about how their relationship began, Yami Gautam revealed that there was never a dramatic proposal or cinematic confession between them. “There was no ‘I am going to propose you’ kind of moment or anything filmy,” she said, adding, “We just knew that we really want to get married. Our families were extremely aligned and very happy for us.”

The actor further admitted that she always wanted a small and intimate wedding, regardless of the pandemic restrictions at the time. “I would have loved to get married the same way… just a few family members, everybody’s blessings, and nature around us,” Yami shared.

Recalling their wedding ceremony in Himachal Pradesh, the actor explained that rituals and traditions mattered deeply to both her and Aditya Dhar. “We wanted to make it more about rituals than anything else. We love our traditions, our Hindu culture. Each and everything that is said at that time has a meaning,” she said.

Yami also spoke emotionally about the natural setting of their wedding. “For me, to have the mighty deodars in the background, nature blessing us out there in the open… both of us had our hearts in those hills,” she added.

Yami Gautam Reveals Wearing Her Mom’s Heirloom Saree

One of the most special aspects of the wedding for Yami was wearing heirloom pieces gifted by her family members. The actor revealed that she wore her mother’s saree for the ceremony. “My mom’s saree was always there for me,” she shared, adding that she wanted to look exactly like her mother did on her wedding day.

The actor also kept her bridal look minimal and personal. She revealed that she did her own makeup for the ceremony. “I did my own makeup. I thought that’s too far-fetched, but it just worked out. Surilie did my hair,” she said.

Yami further revealed that the traditional reeda dupatta and pahadi nath she wore had been preserved by her nani since childhood. “My nani had kept it ever since I was born… that’s exactly how I wanted to get married. There is nothing I would change about that moment,” she shared.

Yami Gautam Calls Husband A Rarity In Today’s Time

Calling Aditya Dhar “a rarity,” the actor added, “Here’s a man who is a rarity in today’s time. That was my first instinct.”

Yami also recalled a sweet memory from the promotions of Article 370, when Aditya ensured she stayed comfortable during her pregnancy. “He just wanted to make sure that I was comfortable. He got me a pillow,” she said while referring to the internet, later calling him a “green forest.”

The actor also shared another incident narrated to her by a hairstylist from the sets of Uri. She said she was sitting on the floor eating, and he offered her his director’s chair. The actress said she has worked on so many films, and nobody does that proactively.

She further revealed that Aditya naturally blended into her family without trying too hard. “He wasn’t trying to be on his best behaviour. He was cooking, taking charge of what’s going to be made,” she shared. Summing up their journey together, Yami said there was never one dramatic turning point in their relationship.“There was no ‘that moment’ moment. Everything just fell in place. Everyone was loving and respectful towards one another,” she said.
