Sensitive yet strong, flashy yet real & a total lover boy! Why Ranveer Singh is the real deal in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

I remember the day when the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani trailer released. I watched it thrice, back to back. That’s how excited I was about Karan Johar’s big directorial comeback. But like the rest of the world, even I pre-judged Ranveer’s character – Rocky Randhawa. As someone who’s closely related to Delhi and is a Punjabi herself, I thought to myself, “oh, here comes another typical portrayal of a rich Punjabi Delhi brat”.

But I was so wrong & thank God for that. Rocky Randhawa aka our very own Ranveer Singh is not your regular flamboyant Punjabi munda. He is sensitive yet strong, flashy yet real & a total lover boy. When Dharma Productions unveiled the trailer of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, for some reason, a certain section on the internet already decided the future of the film – assuming it would be disappointing. The film was always surrounded by negative connotations, unnecessary provocation by trollers and pre-conceived notions of the audience members – especially regarding Ranveer’s character.

In the trailer, Ranveer was showcased as this protein-shake-drinking, gym-obsessed, narcissistic Punjabi lad who comes from a lot of wealth. And of course, the public perceived him as that. However, the entire perception changed as soon as people watched the movie. Ranveer is actually the underdog of this family entertainer. He steals the show and how. The actor lights up the screen with his funny one-liners, savage personality and emotional scenes.

The way he carries the film on his shoulders is commendable. He balances it on his shoulders like a pro. The actor is relatable & how! It wouldn’t be wrong to call this one of his career-best performances. It’s a Ranveer Singh show, hands down!
