shubh mangal saavdhan, baadshaho

Yesterday, two movies ‘Baadshaho’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ released together. Both the movies are of different genres, so of course their audience base is also different. Let’s find out how was their first day business.

Starting with Milan Luthria’s ‘Baadshaho’, the movie did a business of Rs 10.25 crore nett approximately. Considering the strong budget of the movie, the opening day business isn’t that great. But, as it’s Eid today, a national holiday, so it should fetch a good amount of growth in its business, a plus point. It would have been difficult had it been a working Saturday, considering the fact that it’s an action flick, the crowd in metros would be less. The business is still better than Ajay Devgn’s earlier movie ‘Shivaay’ which had earned Rs 9.19 crore on day one. However, the collection is still less than ‘Action Jackson’ which had done a business of Rs 10.37 crore. The state of UP fetched the best numbers and this was followed by Rajasthan, Bihar, CI and CP Berar. (Also Read: Baadshaho movie review: This period drama might make you yell ‘period’!)

The other release ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ did a business of around Rs 2.50 crore nett and that’s not really a great number. The movie’s business is slightly better than that of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, though the movie got a wider release. Now, the national holiday of Bakrid i.e. Eid al-Adha will decide how much more can the movie rake in. Reports among the limited target audience state that ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ will fare better than ‘Baadshaho’.
