Jailer 2 Box Office: Rajinikanth Starrer Becomes Tamil Cinema’s Biggest Film Ever; Grosses Over Rs 700 Cr In Just 11 Days

Rajinikanth-led Jailer 2 released in theatres globally on October 15 and has made history in Tamil Cinema. With a gross earning of over Rs 710 crore in just 11 days, the film has emerged as the Tamil Film Industry’s highest grossing film ever. As reported by trade website Sacnilk, on Day 11, Jailer 2 earned an impressive Rs 25.70 crore net across 11,954 shows in India. The breakup for the earning on the second Sunday are — Rs 17.35 crore from 5,683 Tamil shows, Rs 4.50 crore from 1,860 Telugu shows, Rs 3.15 crore from 4,195 Hindi shows and Rs 70 lakh from 216 Kannada shows.

The film’s total India gross collections currently stands at Rs 466.85 crore where as its total India net collections amounts to Rs 398.70 crore.

Biggest Tamil Film Ever

As per the same website, the Nelson directorial become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time by overtaking Shankar’s 2.0 at the worldwide box office. For those who don’t know, the sci-fi blockbuster – starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in lead roles, was the highest grossing Kollywood film for eight-year. The film earned an impressive Rs 691 crore during its lifetime.

While Jailer 2 and 2.0 hold the first two spots, the other 3 highest grossing Tamil films to date are Leo – Rs 605.90 crore, Jailer – Rs 604.75 crore and Coolie – Rs 518 crore.

About Jailer 2

Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the actioner is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. The sequel sees Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik reprising their roles from the 2023 flick. S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan join the case as pivotal characters this time.

Jailer 2 also features cameo appearances of Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, Vijay Sethupathi, Vinayakan and Vasanth Ravi.
