Baadshaho-and-Shubh-Mangal-Saavdhan

This Friday we have two films clashing at the box office. Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz-starrer ‘Baadshaho’ had locked horns with Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’. Both of the films have love as the backdrop, but still are completely different in genres. While ‘Baadshaho’ is about love in the times of political emergency, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ is about a man suffering from erectile dysfunction and how it affects his love life. Two interesting plots, but unfortunately less buyers at the box office.

As per reports, both the films have received bad openings at the box office. ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ has received an opening of 10-15% at the box office which is way below average while ‘Baadshaho’ is still decent with 25-30% opening. Of late, box office has been a roller-coaster ride for Bollywood films as many of them have failed to mint good money. It was Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ that managed to mint decent money at the box office. ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao too made somewhat an average income. But looking at the opening received by ‘Baadshaho’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, it would be interesting to see whether they manage to make it big at the box office or not.

Meanwhile, ‘A Gentleman’ that made it to the theatres last Friday has registered itself in the list of disastrous films. One week collection of this film stands at Rs 16.75 crore. It had clashed with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ which collected approximately Rs 6.25 crore in one week. Considering its budget was Rs 5 crore as tweeted by Nawazuddin, this film is in profit.
