‘Kahaani 2’, the sequel of 2012 superhit thriller ‘Kahaani’ has hit the screens on last Friday, i.e. 2nd December. However, unlike the previous one, ‘Kahaani 2’ does not tend to be a blockbuster.
After its first week at the theatres, the film has minted an amount of Rs. 23.75 Cr.
Although Vidya Balan, Arjun Rampal and Jugal Hansraj’s performances have been widely appreciated and the film also features an ensemble cast from the Bengali film and television industry, the film failed to evoke equal thrill, as compared to the first one.
Of late, Bollywood hasn’t seen a good fate for sequels. ‘Rock On 2’, a sequel to 2008 musical drama ‘Rock On’ didn’t do well at the box office. Even the hit comedy franchise ‘Housefull’ didn’t cast its spell when it came to ‘Housefull 3’. Same happened to ‘Force 2’ and ‘Tum Bin 2’.
However, ‘Kahaani 2’ was made with a budget of Rs. 25 Cr; thus the film will very well recover its investment and will also have some profit.
